Editor Roles at Datarsoft
Editor-in-Chief (EiC)
The senior editorial leader of a journal. The EiC sets scope, defines editorial policy, recruits the editorial board, makes final decisions on accept/reject, and represents the journal externally.
Term
3 years, renewable for one additional 3-year term, subject to mutual agreement.
Honorarium
Annual honorarium based on submission volume and editorial activity. Disclosed individually in the appointment letter. Indicative range: ₹1,80,000 to ₹4,20,000 per year for an active journal.
Time Commitment
Approximately 6 to 10 hours per week, including handling editor-assigned submissions, reviewing reviewer reports, making editorial decisions, supervising special issues, and representing the journal at conferences.
Associate Editor (AE)
Subject-area editors who handle submissions in their specialty. AEs work under the EiC, invite reviewers, manage the review process, and make recommendations on each manuscript.
Term
2 years, renewable.
Honorarium
Per-submission honorarium plus an annual fixed component. Indicative: ₹24,000 to ₹36,000 fixed annual plus ₹1,500 to ₹2,500 per submission handled.
Time Commitment
Approximately 4 to 6 hours per week.
Guest Editor (GE)
Editors invited for special issues on a specific theme. GEs propose the special issue scope, recruit contributors, manage the review process, and write a guest editorial.
Term & Honorarium
Single special issue (typically 6 to 9 months). Fixed honorarium per special issue: ₹40,000 to ₹60,000.
Editorial Advisory Board (EAB)
Senior scholars who advise the journal on long-term strategy, scope, and ethics. EAB members do not handle submissions but provide critical guidance. Term: 3 years, renewable. Honorarium: ₹12,000 to ₹18,000 annually.
